Day 8 January 18th R&D

Cloud projections on stageJoined by the talented Mr Mark Whitaker, as well as welcoming Ida and Tinka of Clogless Lobster for the second day we puppeteered, projected and plotted. It was great to share skills and bounce ideas around, trying out the characters and how they interact and relate.

Puppeteers

Four puppeteers work together on a scene

Working with projecting videos of clouds from the front and live feeds from a camcorder projected from behind, we got some very interesting effects going. The overhead projector light was far more powerful and washed out the other projections when used. Technically challenging work, but rewarding and worth trying out to see how the effects could be used to help create layered images.

Cloud child projectionsYesterday we bade farewell to our friends from Sensorium Theatre (Australia) Francis Italiano and Michelle Hovane who have been so willing to help out and contribute. We look forward to working with them in the future.

  1. What a great way to spend 1 and half wintery January day joining the devising process of Cloud Child. We enjoyed a lot playing around and seeing ideas being hatched into beautiful surreal reality of excellent puppetry blended with poetic music, shadows and live projections.

Can’t wait to see the result of your efforts and the show later in 2012!
