Enormous Turnip for Oldham Coliseum

Digging in the Compost.

A wonderful time was had with children at Greenacres Community Centre in Oldham this week with several Imaginary Leaps play sessions based on THE ENORMOUS TURNIP.

Children & adults from several Early Years centres in Oldham enjoyed messing around in muck!  Exploring root vegetables, smelling the earth and eventually eating our produce made for a great adventure.

The whole event was celebrated with a storytelling session based on the classic tale THE ENORMOUS TURNIP.  Emma Gee – Outreach and Education officer from Oldham Coliseum was delighted with the play sessions and stated “There is so little provision available for Early Years.  It is pitched perfectly for the children and is great fun for the adults too.”  The whole session rounded off with a TUG ‘O WAR with THE ENORMOUS TURNIP.

Oldham Coliseum approached Imaginary Leaps artist Liz Fitzgerald-Taylor and asked for several Creative Play Sessions as part of its Coliseum @ programme of work for 2010.
