The first really cold, windy and rainy day of the Autumn coincides with a late booking in a street market in East Manchester. Many thanks for this gig goes to Jo Williams – otherwise known as ‘Little Big Top‘ – who has been helping Leila Cribbins out while she’s been on maternity leave. I was there with quite a few food and healthy eating stalls, a small walkabout band and The Fairly Famous family with their ‘Cheesy Rider’ show. The market traders loved all the atmosphere we produced, but on such a freezing and damp day, the public were scarce and huddling to the warmth. Still, the ones who were able to stop enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
Then we went to the Green Room for their 25th birthday bash. Rachel has been involved with Green Room since the 1990’s so it was nice for her to say hello to Bush Hartshorn and catch up with the great and the good who were in attendance. A throughly deserved cheer went to the inestimable Steve Curtis, who has been the one reliable constant in the history of the place. Here’s to another 25 years, and let’s hope the 50th bash is as good as the 25th.
